About the Williams County Alliance

In 2006, Williams County residents organized to stop a multi-million laying hen/egg-cracking facility from locating in their community. This grassroots effort resulted in the creation of the Williams County Alliance, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting a sustainable future.

Over the years, the Alliance has become involved with a variety of issues, including factory farming, fracking, local foods, tire pyrolysis, and most recently, the effort to privatize Williams County’s sole source of drinking water, the Michindoh Aquifer. These issues may seem diverse, but they share a common theme — the desire by members of a community to have a meaningful voice in the decisions that affect the quality of their lives and the environment upon which all life depends. The Alliance is an all-volunteer group that is funded through donations, fund raising events and grants.
